Where did you grow up?
I was born and raised in Gadsden. I grew up 'on the mountain', as we say there, a few miles from Noccalula Falls.
How did you become a Christian?
I grew up in a Christian home, attending church every time the doors were open. The first time I remember believing in who Jesus is and what He did for me was when I was twelve. My later teenage years were the first time I remember being led to ministry. Because I'm stubborn, I did not fully surrender to the ministry until I was almost 40.
What do you do for free time?
In our free time we love to travel. National Parks are favorites. Maybe one day we'll get to all of them.
What's your favorite movie?
I've got the standard guy list of favorite movies: Gladiator, the Bourne series, and Star Wars. One guilty pleasure favorite is Megamind. License to watch animated movies is an underrated benefit of being a parent. Favorite TV shows include Band of Brothers, The Office, and old school favorites Cheers, MASH, and Miami Vice.
What's the craziest job you ever had?
I spent 25 years with the AL Marine Police, mostly on Lake Martin. Most people think of being on a boat as being fun. I just think of it as work. I've dealt with more than my share of crazy during that time.
What is your favorite Bible verse?
Romans 8:1 Therefore, no condemnation now exists for those in Christ Jesus.
What's on your playlist?
I like all kinds of music. Some of my favorites are Pink Floyd, Rush, Skillet, Dwight Yoakam, Third Day, and Switchfoot.
One I recently read was Where the Light Fell by Philip Yancey. All time favorites include Mere Christianity, Beneath a Scarlet Sky, The Pursuit of God, and anything by Tim Keller.
