Birthplace? Where did you grow up?

I was born and raised right next door in Boaz, AL. After high school, I moved to Mobile, AL to attend college at the University of Mobile, where I received a BA in Theology. I continued my studies for a short time in Louisville, KY, where I received my MA in Biblical Counseling from Southern Seminary. Then my life came full circle when I moved back home to Boaz in 2018.

How did you become a Christian?

I have never known a life apart from being involved in a local body of believers. I grew up attending church weekly, watching my parents serve as teachers, and singing in the church choir. It wasn’t until I was ten years old that I realized I had never officially committed my life to Christ. After lengthy conversations with my parents and pastor, I announced my faith to my church and was baptized into new life. Since that moment, the journey of life has taken me on many high and low roads, but the one consistent thing has always been that the Lord has faithfully provided for me and continued to call me deeper into his purposes every step of the way.

What do you do for free time?

I am a bit of a nerd, so I spend an inordinate amount of time listening to Bible podcasts, reading educational material, and learning new things from YouTube videos. When I am not soaking in new content, I love to practice guitar, play video games with friends, or perfect my chef skills with fancy Pinterest recipes. If all else fails, you can guarantee I will be bingeing a movie or series on Netflix!

What’s your favorite movie?

Oh, I am definitely a movie aficionado! While Avatar is my favorite movie of all time (yes, the one with the blue aliens), I have to say that Inception is probably tied for first place. Of course, this is assuming that Star Wars, The Lord of the Rings, and Harry Potter can’t be counted as my favorites...

What’s the craziest job you’ve ever had?

As a person who has worked in the service industry for many years, I can honestly say that I have had many crazy jobs. The craziest (but also the coolest) was when I worked as an Assistant Dorm Director for an international Christian high school near Pigeon Forge, TN. I was basically a dorm dad for around 30-40 international students from China, Japan, Africa, Jamaica, and all across Europe. The job came with many responsibilities such as airport runs, doctor appointments, and help with homework, but it was incredibly rewarding getting to spend time with kids from different cultures and languages all around the world.

Favorite Bible verse?

But when anything is exposed by the light, it becomes visible, for anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore, it says,

“Awake, O Sleeper,

and arise from the dead,
and Christ will shine on you.”

Ephesians 5:13-14 (ESV)

What about the church helped confirm your call to Connect Church?

Haley and I stepped out in faith when we started visiting other churches in our area in order to see where the Lord could use us most effectively. Even on our first visit, Connect Church had a special warmth and charm of familiarity that felt like family. It was peaceful and comforting, and we fell in love with the people from the very beginning.

What’s on your playlist?

Music is basically my love language! Apart from my typical worship playlist full of Bethel, Hillsong, Elevation, and All Sons and Daughters songs, my tastes include bands or artists from across all genres of music. Some of my favorites are Mumford & Sons, Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors, Chris Stapleton, and August Burns Red.
