Just like Advent is a time preceding Christmas to focus your attention on the coming of the Savior to the world, Lent is a time preceding Easter to focus your attention on the sacrifice Jesus made by dying on the cross for our sins. Lent, just like Advent, is not commanded nor implied in the Bible. Instead it is a tradition that developed slowly over many centuries within the church. Different denominations approach Lent in various ways. For Connect Church, we feel that any opportunity we have as a church family to set aside and focus our hearts, families, and homes on the Savior is worthy of our time!
